Applications now open: NCSEHE Visiting Fellowships

The National Centre for Student Equity in Higher Education (NCSEHE) is pleased to invite researchers, practitioners and policymakers at all career stages to apply for a NCSEHE Visiting Fellowship.

NCSEHE Visiting Fellowships are aimed at producing and supporting collaborative research projects between NCSEHE and higher education equity researchers and contributing to the strategic goals of NCSEHE’s Research and Policy Program.

Each NCSEHE Visiting Fellowship is valued at up to AUD$9,000 for domestic (Australia-based) applicants and up to AUD$12,000 for international applicants. Funds provided are to cover the significant costs associated with the fellowship’s residency component:

  1. including travel to NCSEHE’s offices at Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia, and,
  2. accommodation at or near the university.

Fellows will be hosted for visits between 30 and 60 days and will have access to a dedicated workspace, the Curtin University library and supportive NCSEHE team, and computing facilities on request. Applicants who cannot undertake a residency of this duration due to work, care or other reasons may negotiate a shorter visit.

Fellowships are open to Australian and international researchers with a higher degree or equivalent professional or community experience and a track record or the potential to develop a track record of higher education policy and equity research.

NCSEHE Research and Policy Program Director Professor Ian Li said the fellowships would advance research in student equity and encourage interested parties to engage with NCSEHE in a mutually beneficial way.

“Achieving equity in higher education is not a solo endeavour; researchers, educators, policymakers, practitioners and institutions must all collaborate to make meaningful change,” Professor Li said.

“NCSEHE is keen to continue building on its research strengths and support new and existing researchers to contribute meaningfully to improving the lives of marginalised and disadvantaged students.”

NCSEHE Visiting Fellowships applications close at 4pm (AWST) on Wednesday 24 January 2024, and outcomes will be announced in mid-February 2024.
