First Nations Fellowship Program Deadline Extension

We have extended the deadline for applications to join its inaugural First Nations Fellowship Program until 5pm (AWST) on Monday 6 November 2023.

At NCSEHE, we are committed to fostering excellence and inclusivity in higher education. One of our core goals is to provide opportunities that empower individuals and enable them to make meaningful contributions to their chosen field.

We recently opened applications for the First Nations Fellowship Program to identify exceptional talent and support aspiring professionals in higher education. However, we recognise there might be reasons potential applicants haven’t had the opportunity to submit their applications.

In our pursuit to create a highly capable, diverse and dynamic cohort, we want to ensure everyone who is interested has ample time to apply. Extending the deadline for the First Nations Fellowship applications reflects our commitment to provide equal access to opportunities for all qualified individuals.

We firmly believe the strength of our Fellowship lies in the diverse perspectives and expertise of our participants and want to express our gratitude to those who have already applied. Your interest and dedication to student equity in higher education are greatly appreciated. We look forward to receiving more applications in the coming weeks.

About the First Nations Fellowship Program

Our inaugural First Nations Fellowship Program is providing up to three fully funded year-long fellowships for First Nations (Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander) Australians working as researchers and practitioners in higher education, to complete a project that will inform an area of higher education equity practice and policy.

The First Nations Fellowship Program seeks to strengthen the quality, capability, scale, and capacity of Australia’s First Nations researchers and practitioners, enable ground-breaking, robust, high-quality, and internationally competitive research, and demonstrate leadership in translating high-quality contributions by Australia’s First Nations researchers.

Fellowships are open to First Nations Australian staff of Australian universities currently receiving funding for equity programs through the Australian Government’s Higher Education Participation and Partnerships Program (HEPPP).

Up to three First Nations Fellowships valued up to $230,000 each for one year will be awarded in 2024.

First Nations Fellows will have the opportunity to engage with the students, practitioners, administrators, and researchers in higher education equity. In addition, as part of their program, First Nations Fellows are encouraged to propose an engagement at an organisation that furthers their project work. This can take the form of a presentation, workshop or placement.

APPLY NOW

Applications for the Program close at 5pm sharp (AWST) on Monday 6 November 2023. We will acknowledge receipt of all applications submitted, and outcomes of the selection process will be announced in late November 2023.
