The Australian Centre for Student Equity and Success acknowledges Indigenous peoples across Australia as the Traditional Owners of the lands on which the nation’s campuses are situated. With a history spanning more than 60,000 years as the original educators, Indigenous peoples hold a unique place in our nation. We recognise the importance of their knowledge and culture, and reflect the principles of participation, equity, and cultural respect in our work. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and future, and consider it an honour to learn from our Indigenous colleagues, partners, and friends.

Event information

The National Centre for Indigenous Studies (NCIS) 2019 PhD/MPhil Research Conference will be held from 23 to 25 October 2019.

The conference is an opportunity for Indigenous and non-Indigenous scholars who are undertaking Higher Degree by Research (HDR) programs in Indigenous studies, to come together and share research insights and approaches. Invited keynote presentations will be given by eminent members of the Indigenous community.

The conference is open—by registration—to all HDR scholars based at Australian National University (ANU); and to HDR scholars from other higher education institutions across Australia whose thesis research is in the broad field of Indigenous Studies. As places are limited; priority will be given to ANU scholars and then on a competitive basis. Please note, there is no registration fee, but attendees will need to cover their own transport and accommodation costs. If you register to attend, you will be required to give a presentation on your research. Further details will be made available upon registration.
