The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child: Successes and Challenges

The University of Newcastle invites you to attend this year’s lecture being delivered by Professor Gillian Triggs, President of the Australian Human Rights Commission to discuss the successes and challenges of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Professor Triggs has an extensive background in law and her long-standing commitment to legal education builds upon the Commission’s efforts to inform Australians, especially children, about their fundamental human rights.

The lecture provides an opportunity for members of the wider community to reflect on issues of social justice that challenge Australia and is free to attend.

With 2014 marking the 25th anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, this year’s timely lecture will provide valuable insight on an issue currently facing Australia and the international community.

For more information, please visit the University of Newcastle event page or contact Student Equity and Support on (02) 4921 6547.
