January NCSEHE Equity Insights eNews

January marked a new chapter for the NCSEHE as we welcomed Director Professor Sarah O’Shea to the team! Sarah joins us from the University of Wollongong, succeeding Professor Sue Trinidad who held the role for seven years.

As we move into February, we look forward to co-hosting Professor Sue Ellis for a free public lecture on Thursday 13 February at Curtin University.

Professor Ellis is Co-Director, Centre for Education and Social Policy at the University of Strathclyde and was co-author of the influential Joseph Rowntree Foundation report on Closing The Attainment Gap In Scottish Education.

Professor Ellis will draw on her work with teachers and communities in some of Scotland’s most deprived areas. The lecture will explore how the coordination of policy, practice and pedagogy can make a profound difference to the educational achievement of students in communities that are traditionally not noted for academic success. We hope you can join us for this event which will be relevant to anyone who is concerned about social justice and equity. More information and registrations.
