This report describes the outcomes for students entering university via one alternative entry pathway and compare them with those of students entering from secondary school. The relationship between secondary school performance, pathway of entry to university, and performance during first year university was examined. The results have substantial implications for changes in admission criteria and for the public funding of universities.

Report found improved access to higher education for asylum seekers is important for their individual wellbeing and their ability to contribute to society. The research examined some of the first Australia-wide data produced on the number of people seeking asylum who are currently participating in, or considering, higher education and how universities were supporting this.

Using data from the Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia survey, we developed a model that provides direct estimates of the probability that a youth will go to university given the SES characteristics of their family when they are 17. We use the results from this model to generate a family- or household-level measure of SES that is directly related to the educational opportunities of Australian youth.

Disparity in educational and career outcomes between rural, regional and remote (RRR) students and their metropolitan counterparts persists despite successive federal and state government initiatives. In this paper, we will present a study that highlights one important, yet overlooked, avenue to improve outcomes for RRR students: early-stage careers education.
