An informative collection of videos has been produced to support university outreach practitioners in evaluating programs for Indigenous students.
Developed as a component of Dr Katelyn Barney’s NCSEHE Equity Fellowship, the videos will also be useful for anyone who has an interest in evaluation of student equity initiatives in higher education more generally.
Each clip focuses on an aspect of evaluation with key Indigenous and non-Indigenous experts. There is also a video that includes the featured experts discussing why evaluation of outreach activities for Indigenous students is so important.
The videos are part of a suite of resources informed by Katelyn’s research, including the Indigenous Success: Doing it, Thinking it, Being it podcast series and an expert panel discussion on Tips for outreach staff on how to evaluate outreach programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
About Katelyn’s Equity Fellowship
The Equity Fellowship involved a mixed-methods approach (combining qualitative and quantitative methods) to identify “what works” in outreach programs for Indigenous students.
The project findings have established strategies to strengthen and improve outreach programs specifically for Indigenous students that can be adopted by all universities across Australia. The Fellowship has also developed resources for outreach staff to assist them in evaluating their programs targeting Indigenous students.
