In this University of South Australia (UniSA) webinar, Dr Nicole Crawford provided a brief overview of her 2019/20 NCSEHE Equity Fellowship research, which investigated proactive approaches to support the mental wellbeing of mature-aged university students in regional and remote Australia. Nicole considered what we, as unit coordinators, lecturers and tutors, can apply from this research to support students’ mental wellbeing in our current COVID-19 context.

About the presenter
Dr Nicole Crawford is Senior Research Fellow at the NCSEHE. She was a 2019/20 NCSEHE Equity Fellow and investigated proactive approaches to support the mental wellbeing of mature-aged university students in regional and remote Australia. Prior to the Fellowship, she was a Lecturer in Pre-degree Programs at the University of Tasmania (UTAS) for nearly a decade. Her research focuses on equity and inclusion in higher education, including student and staff mental wellbeing; enabling education; mature-aged students; and regional and remote students. She initiated UTAS’s Social Inclusion Community of Practice, and the National Association of Enabling Educators of Australia (NAEEA) Special Interest Group on Mental Health
