Every Child, Every Step of the Way: The Strive Partnership

The University of Cincinnati and the Center for Urban Education have developed a Roadmap for Success, focusing on the critical benchmarks and transition years of a child’s academic life. Spanning “cradle to career”, the roadmap outlines specific developmental stages and performance indicators individual students are expected to meet, and serving as an informational and monitoring tool for parents, carers, and teachers.

The Strive Partnership is a collaborative project between Greater Cincinnati leaders from the education, nonprofit, community, civic, and philanthropic sectors, and a subsidiary of KnowledgeWorks. The partnership aims to assist students to achieve better results in education in order to advance their individual success and subsequently the economic growth of their respective communities.

The Partnership focuses on 8 critical indicators of academic success:

  1. Kindergarten readiness
  2. 4th grade reading
  3. 8th grade math
  4. ACT scores
  5. High school graduation rates
  6. Postsecondary enrolment
  7. Postsecondary retention
  8. Postsecondary completion

A 9th performance indicator, transition into a meaningful career, will be introduced this year.
