Charles Sturt University recently released a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) called What’s Uni Like?, developed using HEPP funds and aimed at supporting widening participation (WP).

The developers of the MOOC will soon be visiting Brisbane, and QUT is holding an information session about this new WP initiative. The event will be an opportunity to discuss how the MOOC might be used within other WP activities, as well as a chance to glean insights into the opportunities MOOC development might offer in WP, outreach, recruitment, or learning and teaching areas.

What’s Uni Like? has been designed to foster aspiration in young people who would not traditionally consider university as a post-school option. Its ultimate goal is to encourage and broaden participation in Australia’s higher education sector. Upon completion, MOOC students will have:

  • an awareness of the various pathways into university
  • the knowledge and confidence to successfully transition and participate in university life
  • an understanding of the academic skills required for successful study, and
  • insight into the opportunities higher education offers.

To RSVP, please email Ashleigh Newbery in Equity Services at ak.newbery@qut.edu.au

Please note: Parking can be difficult, so please refer to the QUT Facilities Management website for information on pay and display. There is also limited Brisbane City Council street parking. A campus map is also available on the QUT website.
