The Australian Centre for Student Equity and Success acknowledges Indigenous peoples across Australia as the Traditional Owners of the lands on which the nation’s campuses are situated. With a history spanning more than 60,000 years as the original educators, Indigenous peoples hold a unique place in our nation. We recognise the importance of their knowledge and culture, and reflect the principles of participation, equity, and cultural respect in our work. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and future, and consider it an honour to learn from our Indigenous colleagues, partners, and friends.

Event information

The University of Melbourne, in partnership with Scope, National Disability Services and The Australian Federation of Disability Organisations looks forward to welcoming you to the third biennial National Virtual Disability Conference.

This fully online conference is for people with disability, family members and carers, and their representative organisations, disability service providers and their staff, researchers, policy makers and other stakeholders.

The focus of the conference is on evidence and examples of good practice, and will foster discussion concerning policy and service provision designed to promote the wellbeing, inclusion and rights of people with disability. The theme of 2022 conference is ‘Raising Expectations’. It will broaden the discussion about disability to examine what has been described by Graeme Innes AM as the ‘soft bigotry of low expectations’ experienced by many people with disability.

Join the webinar for conversation about challenging the systemic barriers to greater participation for people with disability and considering the broader interests and issues for people with disability to raise expectations for a better future.
