Pathways 15 — Advancing Inclusion in Tertiary Education: Policy and Practice
2 December 2020 - 4 December 2020
Pathways 15 brings together disability practitioners, National Disability Coordination Officers and a range of other professional, academic staff and students with disability to identify and remove barriers for people with disability participating in post-secondary education and training. The conference provides a unique opportunity to improve our knowledge and plays a pivotal role in supporting practitioners and the sector in general with an opportunity for professional development. It encourages discussion and debate which informs the sector and ensures that we are all working towards an improved practice model.
The theme centres around Advancing Inclusion in Tertiary Education: Policy and Practice, drawing on current policy to shape and enhance best practice in the provision of service to tertiary students with disability.
The Australian government is committed to a national approach supporting people with disability to maximise their potential and participate as equal citizens in Australian society. This commitment to equity can be seen in the Disability Discrimination Act (1992), the Disability Standards for Education (2005) and more recently in ‘The Best Chance for All’ a proposed national policy statement for student equity in Australian tertiary education (2018).
