Let’s Talk: Student Debt – Myths and Facts

Event Details
Bankwest Lecture Theatre, Building 200A, Curtin University Bentley campus
24 October 2014 6:29 am

You are warmly invited to the first of three forums in the “Let’s Talk” community forum series, aimed at addressing barriers to higher education. Each forum in the series will focus on different issues – from economic barriers and capacity-building to future employment prospects. This first forum opens the discussion on economic barriers by exploring the notion of student debt myths and facts.

“Let’s Talk” forums have been designed to provide members of the community and higher education professionals with the opportunity to engage in open dialogue via a Q&A format, where panellists answer questions and comments from the audience. For those people who may be unable to attend, panellists will also be answering questions posted in Twitter using the hashtag #letstalkstudentdebt

Panellists include:

  • Tim Pitman, Policy Analyst, National Centre for Student Equity in Higher Education
  • Simon Roy, Senior Student Assist Officer, Curtin Guild
  • Michelle O’Brian, Debt Management Consultant, Maddington

The video below provides further insight into this first forum.

Light refreshments will be served from 5 pm.

To RSVP, please visit the event registration page.

The “Let’s Talk” community forum series is an initiative of Curtin AHEAD in partnership with Abdulrahim Elmi, an independent project manager and youth advocate. The initiative seeks to uncover potential in people and raise awareness and understanding of the long-term benefits of higher education.

This event will be filmed for educational and informative purposes, and for a potential research project. If you have any queries or concerns about the filming, please inform the organisers upon your arrival.
