The University of Wollongong, in partnership with the University of Newcastle and Open Universities Australia, invites you and your colleagues to attend a one-day forum titled “Breaking the Barriers: Forum on supporting and engaging first-in-family university learners and their families.”

The free event will present findings from an Office for Learning and Teaching-funded project which seeks to provide a more nuanced understanding of the university experience for older, first-in-family students.

The forum is both an information sharing event and an opportunity to network and discuss with colleagues about how best to support first-in-family university students, and will include:

  • presentations on first-in-family students who are studying in online and face-to-face modes, and
  • insights into the specifics of students studying at enabling, pre-degree and undergraduate levels.

If you wish to learn more about the event or register for attendance, please visit the Eventbright registration portal. Alternatively, please feel free to email Project Manager Dr Janine Delahunty or Project Lead Dr Sarah O’ Shea.
