ADCET Webinar: Meeting the needs of our Indigenous students with disability

Event Details
Online webinar
10 May 2019

If you have questions about how your institution can better support the access needs and engagement of Indigenous students with disability, this webinar is for you.

Sharon Kerr with over 30 years of experience as an educator and support worker has set about trying to find Black answers for her White questions. Under the leadership of her Phd supervisor A/Professor John Gilroy and her Indigenous advisory group, Sharon has undertaken research focusing on:

  1. Why it is that Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students with disability are not presenting for support?
  2. What are the barriers both real and perceived for students who need support?
  3. How can we mitigate the impact of these barriers?

During this webinar, Sharon will share findings of this research and provide the opportunity for input and discussion (technology and time permitting).

Suitable for: Disability and Indigenous teaching and support staff; people with interest in facilitating equity of access to education; and researchers.

The webinar is free to attend, it will be live captioned and recorded. The captioned video will then be made available on the Australian Disability Clearinghouse on Education and Training (ADCET) website.
