Tools for supporting staff and students with disabilities
The University of Melbourne has developed a range of resources for supporting staff and students with disabilities as part of its commitment to the inclusion of people with disabilities and its aim to eliminate unlawful discrimination.
The university’s toolkit includes resources developed ‘in house’, along with those provided by the Human Rights Commission and the Australian Public Service Commission. Additional resources may also be found via the university’s Mental Health Strategy Working Group page.
The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare currently defines disability as:
one or more of 17 limitations, restrictions or impairments which have lasted or are likely to last, for a period of six months or more, and which restrict a person’s everyday activities.
You can find the full list of limitations on the AIHW website.
